Lodha Brothers Settle Trademark Dispute, Clarifying Brand Ownership

Published On Apr 14, 2025 at 11:56 PM IST

In a significant development, the Lodha siblings, Abhishek and Abhinandan, have successfully resolved their legal disputes, including a high-profile trademark infringement case that had drawn considerable public attention. Their parents played a pivotal role in facilitating this amicable settlement.

The Settlement Details

According to a recent announcement from Macrotech Developers Ltd (MDL), the settlement has clearly defined brand ownership. Under the new agreement:

  • Macrotech Developers will retain exclusive rights to the trademarks ‘Lodha’ and ‘Lodha Group’.
  • Abhinandan Lodha will maintain exclusive rights to his brand, ‘House of Abhinandan Lodha’ (HoABL).
  • The two parties have agreed to clearly communicate that there is no affiliation between the ‘Lodha Group’ and HoABL.

Furthermore, this legal resolution stipulates that Abhinandan Lodha has no claims over Macrotech Developers or any ventures owned by Abhishek Lodha, and vice versa.

Legal Background

The trademark infringement lawsuit initially filed by MDL against HoABL claimed misuse of the ‘Lodha’ brand, with the financial stakes reportedly reaching up to ₹5,000 crore. The Bombay High Court had referred the dispute to mediation, appointing Justice R.V. Raveendran, a former Supreme Court judge, to help facilitate discussions.

Previously, the matter was being considered under the jurisdiction of Justice Arif Doctor before the mediation process began on January 31.

This settlement marks a crucial turning point in the relationship between the Lodha brothers, ensuring that both brands can coexist independently while avoiding further legal entanglements.
