Tribute to a Mentor

At the recent Law Day ceremony held in Orange County, Damian Brady, the administrator for the Office of Assigned Counsel, paid heartfelt tribute to esteemed attorney Robert N. Isseks. Brady, a former mentee of Isseks and his father, Bernard Brady, acknowledged the profound impact their guidance had on his development as a lawyer.

“Receiving this award with Bob’s name on it means a lot to me,” said Brady, highlighting the significance of the Robert N. Isseks, Esq. Liberty Bell award.

A Celebration of Advocacy and Community

This year’s Law Day theme, “The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One,” underscored the unity of the United States amidst diversity. It was a fitting backdrop to recognize both the legal community’s contributions and the importance of civic engagement.

In addition to Brady, the Liberty Bell award was also presented to Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, honoring their commitment to community service in line with the ideals celebrated on Law Day. Brady also took a moment to express gratitude towards his staff, acknowledging their ongoing dedication to providing legal assistance to those in need.

Legacy of Robert N. Isseks

The late Robert N. Isseks, who passed away unexpectedly in April 2017, was renowned for his civil rights initiatives. His commitment to justice and legal advocacy left a lasting impression on many within the community. His memory continues to inspire legal professionals in the region.

Recognitions During Law Day

In addition to the awards, James I. O’Neill High School was recognized for winning the 2024-25 Mock Trial championship, showcasing the commitment to fostering young legal talent.
