New Salary Benchmark Set by Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors for Associates

Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors announces salary hike for first-year associates to $300,000.

In a significant development in the legal profession, litigation boutique firm Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors has declared that salaries for first-year associates will rise to $300,000 starting September 1, 2025. This represents a notable increase of $50,000 from the previous rate.

This new salary structure positions Brewer above many major law firms, commonly referred to as BigLaw, which offered a starting salary of $225,000 to first-year associates in 2023. Notably, this base pay remained unchanged even when top firms introduced bonuses in November 2024.

The announcement was made public through an official press release on April 28. Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors, which operates offices in New York and Dallas, plans to onboard five new associates this fall.

Firm founder William A. Brewer III expressed interest in hiring additional associates, preferably those recognized as “academic all-stars” and “advocacy all-stars,” in an interview with Law.com.

Innovative Business Model and Resources

Brewer has ambitions to pivot towards alternative fee arrangements, aiming to reduce traditional hourly billing to 20% or less of their total revenue. In pursuit of this goal, the firm leverages a team in India that employs artificial intelligence and advanced technology for case evaluation and preparation.

Moreover, the firm collaborates with specialists, including investigators and certified public accountants, to enhance its service offerings.

This strategic salary move and business model reveal Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors’ commitment to attracting top talent while innovating in the legal industry.
