Arkansas Mandates Religious Displays in Classrooms
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has enacted legislation that requires religious symbols to be positioned prominently in taxpayer-funded education spaces across the state.

The newly signed Senate Bill 433 stipulates that classrooms and other public buildings supported by taxpayer funds must exhibit two specific displays:
- The Ten Commandments,
- The national motto of the United States, “In God We Trust.”
Both items must be placed in a visible area, ensuring they are readily seen by students and visitors alike.
Details on the Ten Commandments Display
The version of the Ten Commandments that will be displayed is a condensed interpretation from Exodus 20, drawn from the King James Version of the Bible. It embraces traditional language, featuring phrases such as “thou shalt.”
Funding for the Displays
Schools and other institutions will have the option to secure these displays either through donations from individuals or organizations or by purchasing them via voluntary funds.
