The New Orleans legal landscape has shifted as two notable firms, Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand & Brackett (MBLB) and Nalley, Dew and Miner (NDM), announce their merger. This partnership aims to strengthen their capabilities in various segments, including insurance, maritime law, transportation, and workers’ compensation.
As part of this merger, all attorneys and support staff from NDM will relocate to the facilities of MBLB, which are situated in the Hancock Whitney Center. This strategic move effectively increases the number of legal professionals within MBLB to 60, enhancing their ability to serve existing and new clients.
In addition to this consolidation, MBLB has expanded its reach with a new office location in Lafayette and a recent entry into the Chicago market, signaling robust growth ambitions.
New Oil Discovery by BP in the Gulf of Mexico
In a noteworthy development in the energy sector, BP has announced a significant oil discovery in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 120 miles from the Louisiana coast. This discovery, located in the Far South prospect, is co-owned by BP in partnership with Chevron.
Company representatives have expressed optimism regarding this find, highlighting its potential to contribute towards BP’s target of producing 400,000 barrels of oil daily from the region, now referred to as the Gulf of America following a rebranding initiative by the previous administration.
