Honoring Fallen Officers at Missouri’s Capitol
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ) — A poignant memorial ceremony is set to take place at Missouri’s Capitol on Saturday, honoring six officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. This year’s tribute will add these officers to the state’s Wall of Honor.
Event Details
The memorial service will commence at 10:00 a.m. at the Capitol’s Law Enforcement Memorial. Attendees will hear remarks from Governor Mike Kehoe and Attorney General Andrew Bailey, who will pay tribute to the bravery and dedication of the fallen.
Illuminating the Capitol
In a gesture of remembrance, Governor Kehoe has ordered the Capitol dome to be illuminated in blue from sunset on Friday until sunrise on Sunday, symbolizing respect for the fallen officers. A candlelight vigil was also held on Friday evening, bringing the community together to honor their memories.
Fallen Officers Remembered
This year’s additions to the Wall of Honor include:
- Officer Cody R. Allen – Independence Police Department, died February 29, 2024
- Chief Stephen A. Singer – Lake Lafayette Police Department, died April 8, 2024
- Officer Phylicia Carson – Osage Beach Police Department, died August 31, 2024
- Officer David Lee III – St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, died September 22, 2024
- Chief George D. Hooper – Webb City Police Department, historical death date March 17, 1918
Governor’s Statement
