Tarun Bhattacharya has joined Sarthak Advocates & Solicitors as a partner.

Renowned corporate lawyer Tarun Bhattacharya has joined the ranks of Sarthak Advocates & Solicitors as a partner. With nearly 30 years of extensive legal experience spanning India, South Asia, and global markets, Tarun brings invaluable expertise to guide clients amidst India’s ongoing transition to renewable energy, battery storage solutions, and large-scale utility projects.

Prior to this new role, Tarun served as General Counsel and Compliance Officer at AES India Private Limited, a subsidiary of the U.S.-based AES Corporation. He played a pivotal role in establishing South Asia’s inaugural 10 MW grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System in collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation, as well as orchestrating the legal groundwork for a major solar power initiative leveraging Australia’s “Maverick” technology.

Earlier in his career, he practiced law for a decade at the Allahabad High Court and various civil courts, representing key public-sector clients including NTPC, SAIL, SBI, Power Grid, and the Cotton Corporation of India. He holds an LL.M. from New York University School of Law and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde in the UK. Tarun is registered with the Bar Council of India and has advised multiple stakeholders on energy sector investments in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and other Eurasian nations.
